Prague hosted European Judo Championships. Uzbekistan’s Utkirbek Turaboyev, who competed in the heavyweight category, won a gold medal.

At the qualifying stage, Utkirbek defeated representatives from Mongolia, Italy, Romania, and in the semifinals and finals – two famous German judokas. Even though the talented young wrestler took part in such a major championship on the international stage for the first time, he managed to beat experienced judokas and take first place.

Another athlete from Uzbekistan Rakhimjon Subkhonov won a bronze award in the weight category up to 66 kg.

Thus, Uzbekistan national team completed the European Judo Championships with one gold and one bronze medal.
