The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the USAID Administrator Samantha Power and Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and USAID, issues of implementation of priority programs and projects.
The USAID Administrator confirmed her firm commitment to providing every possible assistance in implementing the tasks outlined in the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026. In particular, it was reported that USAID intends to closely coordinate its efforts with the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
The USAID Deputy Administrator assured that the Agency would continue to implement financial and technical assistance projects, primarily taking into account the priorities of Uzbekistan.
The USAID leadership expressed readiness to contribute to the modernization of the energy sector, the introduction of renewable energy sources, the development of water management, the improvement of the education system, vocational training and advanced training of young people.
The importance of attracting USAID assistance to the vocational education system to expand employment opportunities for Uzbekistan citizens and the country's sustainable economic development was also noted.
