Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan took part in the University of Oxford conference on wildlife conservation in Central Asia, organized by the Saiga Conservation Alliance.

The event was attended by the University of Oxford professors, international SCA experts and representatives of international environmental organizations.

Reports were heard on the role of the Ustyurt saiga fauna in maintaining the balance of lowland ecosystems, on the ongoing work to restore the ecological system of the Aral Sea region, projects planned for implementation in Central Asia and Uzbekistan jointly with international organizations.

Uzbekistan diplomats informed the participants about the large-scale environmental protection reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, including paying special attention to ensuring environmental rights in the new draft constitution, measures to restore the ecological system of the Aral Sea region.

The SCA leadership highly appreciated the environmental measures carried out by Uzbekistan. The British side stressed the effective relations established with Uzbekistan on the protection of Saiga and expressed its firm readiness for further development of cooperation in this direction.
