The Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a press conference on the activities of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2022.

It was attended by media representatives, the leadership and officials of the committee, chairmen of national cultural centers.

As noted at the press conference, one of the most important and priority areas of the country’s policy is the creation of equal conditions and opportunities for all nations and nationalities living in Uzbekistan, the harmonization of interethnic relations.

The Committee is an organization whose functions include the coordination of the activities of national cultural centers, the formation of close relations with compatriots abroad. It manages 152 national cultural centers and 38 friendship societies.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee Azamat Toshev informed about the work carried out in 2022. During this period, the Committee prepared 14 draft conceptual documents aimed at improving the legal framework in interethnic relations.

On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Friendship on July 30, 283 of our compatriots, who made a worthy contribution to strengthening the atmosphere of interethnic harmony and friendship between representatives of all nationalities living in the country, and also achieved significant results in strengthening and developing friendly relations with the peoples of foreign countries, were awarded the badge “Friendship of Peoples”.

The committee, with the participation of national cultural centers and friendship societies, held 8177 events throughout the country in 2022 to further strengthen friendship and harmony between representatives of different peoples and nationalities living in Uzbekistan. These are conferences, roundtable discussions, workshops, competitions and exhibitions, cultural, educational, and other events.
