The Hokim of Navoi region Normat Tursunov met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Ms. Sabine Machl, and representatives of UN agencies.

At the meeting, Mr. Tursunov emphasized that essential tasks have been set in Navoi region within the framework of initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. He also noted that the current meeting serves as a vivid example of practical cooperation between the United Nations and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan. The document provides for collaboration on environmental protection, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and the creation of inclusive conditions for the provision of social services to children.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to implement new innovative projects in education, healthcare, agriculture, and environmental protection, as well as to continue joint efforts toward achieving sustainable development.
