At Iran’s initiative, the United Nations and the diplomatic missions of countries celebrating Navruz organized events dedicated to this holiday.

According to the IRNA, the event was attended by ambassadors and diplomats from many countries and the President of the United Nations General Assembly.

In 2009, Navruz was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and in 2010, at Iran’s initiative, members of the UN General Assembly declared this date an International Day.

This day is considered a spring holiday for 300 million people from the Balkan Peninsula, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
