As part of the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), bilateral talks were held at the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade (MIIT) with British Ambassador Timothy Torlot and experts from the British Department for Business and Trade.
According to MIIT, the talks were attended by members of the Negotiating Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Customs Committee and the Antimonopoly Committee of the country.
At the meeting, the British side was informed in detail about the work carried out by the Uzbek side on joining the organization, in particular, on preparing for the next, 6th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
Along with this, promising areas of interaction were discussed within the framework of the project of technical assistance of the British side to the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the organization.
Following the talks, readiness was expressed to continue further active cooperation and take concrete joint measures to accelerate the process of bilateral negotiations.
