On December 12, the 25th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Economic Cooperation Organization kicked off at the International Trade Center (ITC), in Tashkent.
On December 12, the 25th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Economic Cooperation Organization kicked off at the International Trade Center (ITC), in Tashkent.
The meeting, which is chaired by the Republic of Turkey, is attended by representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry of the organization’s member states – Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the diplomatic corps, ministries and agencies responsible for tourism, transport, trade, industry and investment, the Women’s Committee, the business community.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A.Ikramov, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Economic Cooperation Organization Azarakhsh Hafizi addressed the opening ceremony of the meeting.
It was noted that the world is experiencing accelerated socio-economic development. In this process, for the member countries of the organization, it is important to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, create free trade zones. To achieve these goals, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Economic Cooperation Organization is expanding economic activity projects. Activities of sectoral institutions in the structure of the organization is being stimulated in order to eliminate the existing problems and obstacles, the initiatives of the member states of the organization of a national and global nature is supported.
At present, the organization carries out its activities in such priority areas as identifying barriers to trade, ensuring harmonization of the legal framework of member states on investment and trade issues, and the integration of their transport-communication systems.
Today, the trade turnover between organization’s member states, the population of which is more than 440 million, exceeds 600 billion USD.
Meetings of the Business Women’s Association, the organization’s committees on tourism, transport, and the Arbitration Committee were held within the framework of the event.
Issues of stimulating the regional market, creating decent conditions for women in business, and encouraging the process of economic integration of states were discussed at the meetings of the committees.
Suggestions on legal regulation of trade-investment activities, consolidation of efforts in the sphere of tourism, development of small and medium business, expansion of transport-communication relations within the organization were considered.
