Turkmenistan hosts Ministerial Transport Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries “Ashgabat Process: Financing for Better Connectivity”, IP Turkmenportal reports.

The event gathers representatives of about 40 countries and over 30 international organizations for a broad discussion of the role of the transport system in ensuring sustainable development in the post-pandemic period.

The conference is organized by Turkmenistan jointly with the UN.

Uzbekistan is represented at the conference by a delegation led by the Minister of Transport Ilkhom Mahkamov.

The participants of the conference will analyze the progress made by landlocked developing countries in sustainable transport and related sustainable development goals, determine the impact in this context of the coronavirus pandemic and other challenges.

The event serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and innovative approaches, solutions for financing infrastructure after the coronavirus pandemic, ensuring its sustainability and stability, identifying recommendations and opportunities for improving the development and maintenance of transport infrastructure in landlocked developing countries, as well as enhancing international support.
