Turkestan hosts a meeting of Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission

Kazakhstan’s Turkestan hosted the 19th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and the Third Forum of Interregional Cooperation.

According to the instructions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Presidents, the heads of government were instructed to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion in 2022 and $10 billion in the next five years.

To achieve this goal, it was noted that the project for the creation of joint wholesale distribution centers should be implemented as soon as possible.

It is also important to adopt the roadmap for the implementation of large joint projects in chemistry, electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, light industry, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, agriculture and other areas.

According to the heads of government, preparations are underway for the upcoming high-level visit.

The Interregional Cooperation Forum and the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation will complement the agenda of the visit.

At the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, issues of strengthening and further enhancing traditionally close ties in the cultural and humanitarian sphere were also discussed.

Following the negotiations between the regions of the two countries, an agreement was reached on the implementation of new draft agreements on industrial cooperation and trade.
