On 19 January, the Center for Hindu Studies named after Mahatma Gandhi at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies in cooperation with the Embassy of India in Uzbekistan celebrated World Hindi Day.
The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat, Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture Chander Shekhar, professors and students of Indian studies of the university. The event was also attended by Anil Sharma, Vice Chairman of the Central Institute of Hindi, via videoconference.
The guests enjoyed creative performances in Hindi, Indian music, and national songs with the participation of students.
A presentation of the monograph “Indian Literature”, co-authored by scholars of Indian studies U.Muhibova and T.Khojayeva, sponsored by the Embassy, was held. Special attention was paid to the collection of ghazals “G’olib Devoni” by the classic Indian poet Mirzo Golib, which is being prepared for publication with the support of the Embassy of India.
At the meeting, the Ambassador of India noted that TSUOS regularly holds events aimed at the development and popularization of Indian studies and that the Embassy will continue to support young scholars of Indian studies, attending the event, to travel to India for studying the country.
