The Monument to Alisher Navoi in Baku symbolizes friendship and cultural interaction between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Its official opening took place on September 11, 2008.
Alisher Navoi was an outstanding poet, writer, thinker, and statesman who greatly influenced the literature, art, and culture of not only Uzbekistan, but also the entire region of Central Asia.
As part of the working visit, journalists of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representatives of the Azerbaijani media visited the Park named after Alisher Navoi in Baku, where they laid flowers at the poet’s monument.
Many compatriots in Azerbaijan are well acquainted with the history and cultural heritage of the Uzbek people.

“Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have rich historical and cultural ties, and the Monument to Alisher Navoi is a kind of symbol of this friendship and respect for the heritage of the Uzbek people”, noted Azerbaijani citizen Adym Khasanov. “We deeply respect the great poet and read his works.
