17:35 / 2026-02-06

At the thirteenth plenary session of the Senate, the Law “On the Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Hungary on Extradition (Budapest, May 20, 2025)” was considered.

The law aims to regulate relations in the field of legal assistance in criminal matters and to improve mechanisms of cooperation in combating crime.

The treaty clearly defines the conditions for extradition, the procedure for submitting and reviewing requests, the grounds for refusing extradition, and provisions to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of individuals.

The ratification of the treaty will elevate legal cooperation between the two states to a new level and contribute to the effectiveness of efforts to combat international crime.

The law approved by the senators will ensure the consistent fulfillment of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s obligations under international agreements and further the development of the rule of law.
