Bukhara hosted a scientific and practical conference on “Traditional gold embroidery and jewelry: History, practice and development prospects” within the framework of the International Gold Embroidery and Jewelry and National Embroidery Art festivals.
It was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries and agencies, hokimiyats, local and foreign artisans and media representatives.
It was noted that over the past years, with the special attention and initiative of the Head of the state, great opportunities have been created in Uzbekistan for handicraft development. Several documents adopted in this area identified the necessary measures to address issues related to the restoration and development of handicrafts that have long existed in the country.
The conference serves to strengthen friendship and cooperation between peoples, expand cultural ties through the restoration and development of the ancient traditions of folk art and the popularization of these crafts. 30 foreign and 60 local speakers delivered speeches about the history of gold embroidery and jewelry, its popularization among the people, the preservation of the best national values and traditions over the centuries, the contribution of these crafts to the development of the economy of states, the details of the festival of gold embroidery and jewelry, held in Bukhara.
Masters from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan spoke about embroidery art.
