By the end of 2025, trade turnover between China and Central Asian countries reached $106.3 billion, a 12 percent increase from the previous year.
This was reported by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.
According to the ministry, trade between China and Central Asian countries has grown steadily over the past five years.
It is noted that last year, China became the Central Asian countries’ largest trading partner. China’s exports to the region reached $71.2 billion, an increase of 11 percent compared to the previous year. The growth in export volumes was mainly driven by increased supplies of electromechanical products and high-tech goods.
Imports from Central Asian countries to China totaled $35.1 billion, a 14 percent increase from the previous year.
In addition, cross-border e-commerce between China and Central Asian countries is developing rapidly. The expansion of logistics and warehousing infrastructure continues, and cooperation in cross-border payments is deepening.
Uzbekistan also occupies an essential place in this process. In recent years, trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan and China have been actively developing, with several joint projects implemented in industrial cooperation, transport and logistics infrastructure, agriculture, and the digital economy, thereby strengthening Uzbekistan’s role in the regional trading system.
Cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative is developing steadily, contributing to enhanced connectivity and the implementation of significant projects in equipment manufacturing, environmentally friendly resources, and modern agriculture. This, in turn, supports industrial modernization and economic growth in the region’s countries.
China’s Ministry of Commerce stated that it will continue to promote trade structure optimization, the development of new business models, and the establishment of high-level institutional cooperation mechanisms.
