The delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan arrived at the Headquarters of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) in Brussels to discuss further integration into the international trade union movement.

Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan Qudratilla Rafikov met with the ITUC General Secretary Luc Triangle.

Mr. Rafikov noted that the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan would be glad to receive the status of a full member of the International Trade Union Confederation.

Mr. Triangle highly appreciated the activities in protecting the socio-economic rights and interests of workers, labor protection, and other areas, as well as the participation of Uzbekistan’s trade unions in lawmaking. He expressed a desire to visit Uzbekistan.

A meeting was also held between the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan delegation and the ETUC and PERC General Secretary Esther Lynch.

Ms. Lynch planned to visit the primary trade union organizations of Uzbekistan to help strengthen cooperation between trade unions of the European Union and Central Asian countries. A proposal to hold meetings of representatives of trade unions of the European Union and Central Asia was approved.
