Towards better schools: 100-hour teacher training program rolls out in Uzbekistan
16:24 / 2025-08-19

The British Council, in cooperation with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Preschool and School Education, is advancing a new stage of a nationwide 100-hour continuous professional development program for all school subject teachers.

As part of the third phase, 60 specialists from the National Institute of Pedagogical Excellence named after Abdulla Avloni and its regional branches are taking part in training sessions. They are reviewing methods used in the first two modules of the program and adapting the most effective approaches for the creation of a new module.

According to Jamila Gulyamova, Deputy Director of the British Council in Uzbekistan, the project unites all stakeholders – from the ministry and the institute to school leaders, teachers, and international experts – to create meaningful and inspiring professional development opportunities for educators.

Once the new module and materials are finalized, teachers across the country will have the opportunity to enhance their professional skills through the updated 100-hour course regularly.

The initiative is funded by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and implemented within the British Council’s Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) program, with the University of East Anglia’s Norwich Institute for Language Education serving as the leading academic partner.
