A major international conference has opened in Tashkent, bringing together representatives of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, leaders of universities belonging to the Turkic Universities Union, and representatives of the Turkic Academy.
The event is attended by delegates from 69 higher education institutions, including around 200 rectors, vice-rectors, and department heads from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Northern Cyprus, and Uzbekistan.
The conference began with the review of applications for membership in the Turkic Universities Union, followed by discussions on improving the Orkhun Academic Exchange Program, and establishing a permanent secretariat and a special fund for the Union.
Particular attention was given to the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to hold the Days of Turkic Science and Innovation, proposed at the OTS Summit in Gabala (Azerbaijan).
During the conference, the results of the “Turk Barometer” scientific project, implemented by the Turkic Academy, were presented.
As part of the event program, the Tashkent International University will host an exhibition of educational institutions of Uzbekistan that are members of the Turkic Universities Union, as well as U2U meetings.
On the second day of the forum, an international scientific conference titled “The Karakhanids – Descendants of Alp Er Tunga (Afrasiab): The Turkic and Islamic World in the Karakhanid Era” will be held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
This prestigious event is expected to elevate cooperation among Turkic states in the fields of education and science to a new level and become an important step toward the formation of a unified educational space of the Turkic world.
