Tashkent hosted a conference organized by the Hospitality Association of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the British Management University, the representative of the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) in Uzbekistan and USAID BSP.

The event was organized to implement the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026. It was dedicated to developing the tourism sector in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

The participants discussed issues of improving infrastructure, the quality of services, and promoting national tourism products. A presentation was organized on developing women’s entrepreneurship in tourism and strengthening cooperation between the state and private sector.

According to experts, there are over 7,000 cultural heritage sites in Uzbekistan. It is predicted that by 2026, the number of local tourists will increase to 12 million and foreign tourists to 9 million. Programs are being implemented with international partners. A program aimed at improving the business environment in Central Asia, within which tourism is highlighted as a priority sector, is being implemented with IBECA. The company supports small and medium-sized enterprises in carrying out market-oriented reforms.

A working group has been established within the framework of public and private partnerships to develop recommendations for improving Uzbekistan’s tourism sector. The conference participants received all the information about the results of the work of this group.
