Turkey takes precautions to protect the health of not only the local population, but also arriving guests during the pandemic.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey has introduced the Safe Tourism Certification Program, which allows tracking the movement of guests of the country from the plane to the airport, from trucks to the hotel.
– Turkey is one of the most popular countries among tourists, – says Erkan Yağcı, Board Member and Spokesperson at the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA). – Last year 50 million tourists visited the country. And this year, due to the pandemic, this figure amounted to 15 million. Antalya, Izmir and Istanbul are the most popular cities.

Due to the pandemic, quarantine rules are often tightened. Such cases of diseases were among tourists. The hotel created conditions for them for treatment for 15 days. For greater confidence, we have created a Safe Tourism Program consisting of 150 parts and three main sections. The main requirements are wearing masks, maintaining social distance and hygiene rules. The healthcare system works well. Insurance packages have been worked out. For example, as of July 1, a special medical insurance package has been developed that includes a test for COVID-19. Within the framework of insurance packages worth 15, 19 and 23 euros, included in the air tickets, which can be purchased under a contract at airports, in various retail outlets, from tour operators and through online channels, all medical expenses will be covered, respectively, up to 3, 5, 7 thousand euros.
We planned to host 75 million tourists in 2023. Special attention for this was paid to expanding tourist routes, creating a strong marketing campaign. But the pandemic changed all plans. Now the bulk of our guests are tourists from Russia and Germany.
