Tokyo to host Japan – Uzbekistan Think Tank Dialogue “Strategic partnerships in new environment”

On July 11, Tokyo, Japan, will host the Japan – Uzbekistan Think Tank Dialogue “Strategic partnerships in new environment”.

The event is organized by the Information-Analytical Center for International Relations and the Japan Institute of International Relations, with the support of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Japan.

The event will bring together leading experts from the Japan Institute of International Relations, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Japan External Trade Organization, Sophia University, and the University of Tsukuba.

Uzbekistan will be represented by leaders and leading experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, the International Institute for Central Asia, the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies, and the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.

The conference focuses on the role of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Japan in the sustainable development of the Central Asian region, the search for new growth points, and promising areas of multifaceted interaction.

It is planned to discuss a set of issues on the broad agenda of Uzbekistan – Japan relations and assess the current state and existing potential.

An essential aspect of the upcoming expert discussion will be the development of trade relations, considering the procedures for Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization and the desire to create a favorable investment environment.

Particular attention will be paid to supporting green development and joint measures to promote environmental sustainability. Japan has advanced technologies in ecology and sustainable development. Cooperation in the exchange of experience and technologies will allow Uzbekistan to implement projects on ecological modernization.

Experts will also discuss cultural and humanitarian cooperation and the social sphere, including the possibilities of deepening interaction in science and education to develop partnerships between Uzbekistan and Japan.
