The 25th World Military Triathlon Championship has begun at the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourist Center.

The tournament, held in two categories – individual and team – brings together more than 100 athletes from 13 countries, competing in a 750-meter swim, a 19-kilometer cycling race, and a 5-kilometer run.

The official opening ceremony was attended by leaders of the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Defense, the Samarkand Regional Hokimiyat, as well as representatives of international organizations.

During the ceremony, the Secretary General of the International Military Sports Council Roberto Recchia, and the President of the Triathlon Sports Committee Victor Lopez Antolin, were awarded badges “For Merit in Strengthening Military Cooperation”. In addition, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, was awarded the honorary order of the International Military Sports Council.
