The World Bank to finance innovative projects in Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Innovative Development held an online meeting with World Bank representatives.

The Ministry of Innovative Development held an online meeting with World Bank representatives. It was attended by the Minister of Innovative Development Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, Adviser to the Minister Yerbol Suleymenov, Head of the Commercialization Department Jamoliddin Babakhanov, World Bank project managers Paulo Correa and Yeraly Beksultan, as well as private sector specialist Gauhar Ospanova.

The parties discussed the implementation of the project of commercialization of scientific developments in Uzbekistan. This project is aimed at introducing new approaches to research and experimental-design work, which will contribute to ensuring the high level of research.

An agreement has been reached on signing a contract for providing an advance payment for the project implementation. The issue of spending the advance on projects aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19 and eliminating its consequences was also discussed.

Representatives of the Ministry of Innovative Development informed about the work carried out in commercialization of scientific developments and the fight against coronavirus in the country.

The parties agreed to prepare a concept of Commercialization of Science project until May 2020. 

The World Bank confirmed its readiness to support funding for projects to combat coronavirus.
