This was announced by the World Bank Water Resource Management Project Manager Abdulhamid Azad at the International Conference “Sustainable Development Goals: Food Security and Water Supply”.
– The Concept for the Development of the Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030 provides for finding solutions to problems in water management and preparing the country for the expected future water shortage, – he said. – About 90 percent of water resources in Uzbekistan are spent on agriculture. The rational use of water is meant not only to introduce water-saving technologies. Attention should also be paid to the digitalization of the industry, training employees, and improving their skills.
I recently visited Karakalpakstan. We got acquainted with the work within the framework of the project “Improving Water Resources Management in South Karakalpakstan”, implemented with the participation of the World Bank. At the same time, the project “Water Resources Management in Fergana Valley. Phase 2”.
These projects testify to the development of our cooperation with Uzbekistan in water management.
