Hokim of Fergana region Khayrullo Bozorov received a delegation led by the international expert of the World Bank Ivan Horvat.
The parties discussed issues for creating an optimal environment for agribusiness in Fergana region and a chain for the production of high value-added products, the widespread introduction of knowledge, innovation and agricultural services into the industry based on world experience, as well as improving the types of services, developing cooperation.
As part of a World Bank loan project, the AKIS Agricultural Services Center under construction in Fergana will be the first such pilot project in the country. 39.2 billion UZS were allocated for the construction and repair work. Some work is being carried out based on the project. Representatives of the World Bank announced that the bank would allocate an additional $1 million to equip the center. This regional center will serve more than 500 agro-industrial complexes based on public-private partnership on the principle of a “single window”. Several services based on over 40 new types of innovative technologies will be introduced.
Internationally accredited laboratories of five types for the safety of agricultural products, in-vitro seedlings, water and soil analysis and phytosanitary analysis will serve farmers and representatives of agribusiness in the region. Within the framework of the World Bank project to support the creation of intensive gardens, the parties agreed to renew the gardens of farms in the districts of Fergana region with a total area of up to 500 hectares.
The parties also agreed to provide local entrepreneurs with bank loans to create mini-refrigeration warehouses with a capacity of 1000-1500 tons for storing fruits and vegetables in each district and city of the region.
