The National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized an online meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, at Tashkent State University of Economics.

The National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized an online meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, at Tashkent State University of Economics.

This workshop became the first online meeting, organized in real time via the Internet between Tashkent and Geneva. It was attended by gifted students of higher education institutions of the country. Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Kyrgyzstan observed the event online.

It was noted that the purpose of the meeting was to familiarize the youth with universal and regional mechanisms for protecting the rights of youth, current problems in the sphere.

– At the event, we received information about the regional activities of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, – said Nilufar Mansurova, graduate student of Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies. – This meeting is an expression of international recognition of Uzbekistan’s experience in the field of human rights.

Following the online meeting, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein congratulated the youth of Uzbekistan on June 30 – Youth Day and wished to become qualified specialists in their field.
