With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, virtual talks were held between the Secretary-General of Uzbekistan Ophthalmologists Association Akmal Matkarimov and the Head of Examinations at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Dylan Costello.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the two organizations, as well as several Uzbekistan ophthalmologists.

The parties exchanged views on the areas of establishing practical cooperation between the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Uzbekistan. The issue of creating a regional center for training and certification of specialists in ophthalmology in Uzbekistan, assisting the RCO in attracting advanced standards and experience in this area was discussed.

RCO representatives were invited to visit Uzbekistan to get acquainted with the country’s potential in ophthalmology, as well as to participate in the next meeting of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council, scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.
