The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan has grown 5 times

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva has met with the Chairman (Toraga) of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov, in Saint Petersburg.

According to the upper house of parliament, the parties considered issues of bilateral relations in several areas, including inter-parliamentary, trade and economic cooperation, as well as the creation of Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan fund for the development of economic relations between the two countries.

Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized that trade and economic cooperation is a priority.

“Over the past 4 years, the trade turnover has grown 5 times and approached $1 billion”, she said. – We also pay main attention to the inter-parliamentary cooperation, exchange of experience in lawmaking, improving the electoral system, strengthening relations between border regions and others.

The Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov expressed satisfaction with the restoration of good-neighborly friendly relations. “Therefore, today, when there are various challenges and threats, it is important to develop socio-economic, humanitarian, political relations”, he said.

The parties agreed to exchange parliamentary visits, hold the next meeting of the joint Inter-Parliamentary Commission in Uzbekistan, establish interregional cooperation, including in gender equality within the framework of the Women Leaders’ Dialogue in Central Asia.
