Samarkand hosted the second International Economic Forum of Uzbekistan.
The forum which took place on 3-4 November, was attended by about 1,200 participants – leaders and representatives of prestigious international organizations, ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan, leading economists, investors and experts.
The message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the forum participants, his special emphasis on the priority areas of economic reforms being implemented in the country, aroused great interest among foreign experts and businesspeople.
The forum included more than ten sessions. The participants discussed active economic reforms and social policy carried out based on the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan. The projects implemented by Uzbekistan jointly with international financial institutions, further prospects for cooperation were considered.
At the final plenary session of the forum, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction J. Kuchkarov said that during the two days of the forum, not only the socio-economic reforms carried out in the country were discussed, but also 62 contracts for $3 million were concluded.
IFC’s Regional Vice President Hela Cheikhrouhou, Member of the Board of Whiteshield Partners, former Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, Chief Operating Officer of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation Nazeem Noordali addressed the meeting, who noted that the forum was successful and will serve as an accelerated development of economic reforms in Uzbekistan.
