On December 16, the WKF Continental Karate Championship kicked off at Yunusabad Sports Complex, in Tashkent.

President of the World Karate Federation Antonio Espinós, President of the Asian Karate Federation Nasser Al Sayed Abdulrazak Alrazooqi, who took part in the Congress of the Asian Karate Federation yesterday, noted that in recent years Uzbekistan has become a country where major sports competitions are organized at a high level, important decisions are made, playing an important role in the international development of the sport.

Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan Oybek Kasimov noted that the strongest karatekas of Asia had gathered in Tashkent, and this is a joyful and significant event.

The congress was attended by the Chairman of the WKF Karate Federation of Uzbekistan Rashid Tolipov, Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Sherzod Toshmatov, heads of Asian karate federations, officials of the National Olympic Committee. The participants discussed the work carried out this year, achievements and shortcomings.

Attention was also paid to preparations for the karate competitions included in the program of the Asian Games 2023 to be held in China’s Hangzhou.

The championship will run until December 20.
