The 55th session of the Statistical Commission is taking place at the UN Headquarters. It is also attended by a delegation led by the Director of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Bakhodir Begalov.
According to the Statistics Agency, speaking at the 55th session of the UN Statistical Commission, Mr. Begalov spoke about the reforms being carried out in the country in statistics, the latest changes introduced to the activities of the statistical system, the mechanism for ensuring openness and transparency of statistical data, the establishment of activities based on advanced quality management systems, implementation of statistical processes in accordance with the latest international methodologies and standards, monitoring the achievement of national Sustainable Development Goals, gender statistics, as well as the results of progress achieved according to the Open Data Inventory (ODIN).

At the same time, fruitful and effective cooperation was emphasized to improve regional statistics with the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, including with the countries of the ESCAP region.

During the session, views were exchanged on the latest international methodologies and advanced foreign experience in statistics. Organizational issues regarding nominating a candidate for membership in the UN Statistical Commission in 2025 in the person of the Director of the Statistics Agency were considered.

Delegation members met with heads of several relevant organizations. Agreements were reached on strengthening cooperation on important issues related to the development of the national statistical system of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
