14:49 / 2025-12-25

A meeting was held between the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismailov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Kenji Hirata.

It was noted that, thanks to the efforts of the two countries’ leaders, cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level.

Highly praising the reforms underway in Uzbekistan, the Ambassador emphasized that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Japan on December 18-20 marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation. Meetings of the President of Uzbekistan, including a dialogue with the leadership of the Japanese Parliament, will strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies. The Ambassador also noted that the President of Uzbekistan’s initiatives at the first “Central Asia + Japan” Summit are of great importance for the region’s sustainable development, and that Japan is interested in Uzbekistan as a strong strategic partner.

At the meeting, key issues were discussed, including strengthening the role of friendship groups, exchanging experience in lawmaking, and expanding cooperation among parliamentary committees.
