The 38th plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be held on 14 March 2023 at 15.00 at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in the city of Tashkent.

On 13 March 2023, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted an order to recognize the decision of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of March 10, 2023 No. 3017-IV “On holding a referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan” as conforming to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Under Article 78 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the joint jurisdiction of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan includes the adoption of a decision on holding a referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan and setting the date for its holding.

Taking into account the decisions of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of March 10, 2023, and the Constitutional Court of March 13, 2023, the issue of holding a referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan” should also be considered in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

In this regard, this issue will be discussed at the 38th plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on March 14, 2023.

The plenary session will be attended by senators, members of the government, heads of state bodies, ministries and agencies, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in the country, members of the Youth Parliament under the Senate, as well as media workers.

According to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the plenary session will be broadcast live on “O’zbekiston 24” and “O’zbekiston” TV channels, “Uzreport” TV channel and through the Senate’s YouTube page.
