The Senate hosts meetings with the Ambassadors of Austria and the Republic of Korea, as well as with the OSCE Representative

The Chairperson of the Senate, Tanzila Narbayeva, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Uzbekistan, Matthias Radosztics.

Issues of further strengthening trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, including the exchange of experiences in science and education, as well as the introduction of training programs for students, were discussed at the meeting.

The upcoming visit of the President of the Federal Council of Austria, Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler, to Uzbekistan, as well as its significance in fostering inter-parliamentary dialogue and interstate relations, was also discussed at the meeting.

At the same time, it was noted that representatives of the Austrian Parliament are showing great interest in participating in the 150th IPU Assembly.

The parties expressed their willingness to develop bilateral cooperation and implement the planned initiatives.

At the meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Won Do-yeon, it was noted that bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea has reached the level of strategic partnership. Promising projects were also discussed.

The sides exchanged views on the further expansion of projects in education, healthcare, trade, economy, and investment, as well as the development of interregional cooperation in these areas.

Issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue, activating the work of friendship groups, and organizing large-scale joint events were also discussed.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea will contribute to the successful holding of the 150th IPU Assembly in Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached on the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.

Key issues related to the empowerment of youth and women in various fields were discussed at a meeting with Antti Karttunen, OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan. The parties also discussed important aspects of cooperation in promoting gender equality and outlined plans for the future.

The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, in turn, expressed support for the democratic reforms being implemented in the country. He noted the increasing role of Uzbekistan’s parliament in the process of societal reform and stressed the importance of further developing cooperation between the OSCE and Uzbekistan to achieve common goals in human rights and democratic transformation.

The parties expressed their readiness to further cooperate on implementing joint projects and ensuring the country’s sustainable development in the spirit of democratic values.
