The Second Global Media Forum continues in Shusha, with the participation of more than 150 foreign guests from 50 countries, including news agencies from 30 countries, 3 international organizations, and 82 media entities. The participants also include experts and officials from Azerbaijan.
Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev addressed the forum participants. According to him, information is a powerful tool, but how it is used is a big question. Digitalization of the sphere has accelerated the production and dissemination of information, but has also contributed to information “pollution”. He also noted that disinformation allows news to be manipulated. Its primary victims are the media and journalists.

Mr. Hajiyev, in his address, highlighted the need for the media to catch up with the advancements in artificial intelligence. He stressed the importance of closer cooperation with the UN and other organizations, and particularly underscored the upcoming significant work in terminology. This work is crucial in ensuring the dissemination of reliable data, a cornerstone of responsible journalism.
As part of the Global Media Forum, organized to celebrate the 149th anniversary of the national press of Azerbaijan, a series of panel discussions were held. These discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the impact of artificial intelligence on the media sphere, the analysis of the consequences of the spread of fake news, the building of a society resistant to disinformation, and the development of media literacy. The discussions were moderated by representatives of major television companies, news agencies, and media holdings.

The forum will also provide information on measures and preparatory work carried out in connection with the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), combating the consequences of climate change carried out at the state level.
