The National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference on “The role of universities in achieving the SDGs”. It was attended by about 100 experts and leading scientists from the United States, Asia, Europe, CIS countries, and Uzbekistan.

The conference was devoted to discussing the role of science and the activities of universities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as issues of improving the education system in universities.

The participants considered promising directions for developing the economy, socio-political, legal, and spiritual spheres, ensuring gender equality, strengthening international cooperation in protecting the environment, overcoming the consequences of technological progress, and forming ideological immunity among young people.

Essential issues of improving the education system and upbringing of the younger generation, the accelerated development of science, and improving the quality of education in accordance with modern requirements based on national values and advanced world experience were discussed.
