The Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations held an extended meeting on “Prospects for cooperation between the Oliy Majlis and the parliaments of the Arab states of the Gulf”.
At the event, views were exchanged on the results of the First Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asian countries, held on July 19 this year in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Aloyev spoke about the initiatives put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in five areas within the framework of the First Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asian countries.

It was noted that the trade and economic relations of Uzbekistan with the Arab states of the Gulf are significantly below the level of existing potential. Although the volume of mutual trade has increased in recent years, there is an opportunity to increase this figure several times.

The deputies also paid attention to the issues of bringing the interaction between the Oliy Majlis and the parliaments of the Arab states of the Gulf to a new level. It was emphasized that the role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening mutual friendship and partnership between regions and peoples who are close in religion, customs, and traditions is incomparable. In this regard, an agreement was reached to intensify the work of groups for interaction with the parliaments of the Arab states of the Gulf, currently operating in the Oliy Majlis.
