The role of Ibn Sina’s teachings in shaping a healthy lifestyle

The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and the Ibn Sina Public Foundation organized the Third International Scientific and Practical Conference on Traditional Medicine devoted to the 1044th anniversary of Avicenna at the Samarkand State Medical University.

Over fifty domestic and foreign specialists from 12 countries, including Korea, India, Iran, Türkiye, Austria, and Russia, came together in a global effort to study and popularize the legacy of the great ancestor, Avicenna, who made a significant contribution to world medicine.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elmira Basitkhanova, Rector of Samarkand State Medical University Jasur Rizayev, Chairman of the Board of the Ibn Sina Public Foundation Nozimkhan Mahmudov, who emphasized the versatility of Avicenna’s activities and praised his works, which are of current importance.

Foreign experts held masterclasses, and lectures were heard on the teachings of Abu Ali Ibn Sina and the role of hadith in shaping a healthy lifestyle, the introduction of the idea of traditional medicine by Ibn Sina into the healthcare system of Uzbekistan, current issues of standardization of medicinal plants in traditional medicine, information about medicinal plants in Türkiye and others.

During the event, several agreements were reached. In particular, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Samarkand State Medical University and South Korea’s KOMSTA.
