As part of the 8th International Congress “The Heritage of Great Ancestors – the foundation of the Third Renaissance”, the International TURKSOY Forum on the “New Renaissance: Cinema and media in support of heritage” is taking place in Samarkand.

The event, organized jointly with the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture, the Center for Islamic Civilization under the Cabinet of Ministers, and the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, was attended by the TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Director of the Cinematography Agency Shukhrat Rizayev, who spoke about the role and importance of cinematography in the study and promotion of the history and culture of the Turkic peoples.

The event will include panel sessions on such themes as “Cinema – defender of heritage: presentation of cultural projects and initiatives”, “Global media cooperation: intercultural projects for the preservation of heritage”. A series of videos prepared for the multimedia block of the Center for Islamic Civilization, presentations of the projects “History of Bactria”, “Archaeological pearls of Uzbekistan”, “Clavijo”, “Khudoybergan Devonov and the Mennonite Germans”, “Mukhtar Avezov” will also be presented.

Following the forum, a memorandum on creating a unified film and media platform for the countries of the Turkic world is planned to be signed.
