The role of agriculture in increasing people’s income grows
22:58 / 2022-12-15

In recent years, the role of agriculture in creating new, profitable jobs and increasing the revenues of the population has been growing. This was the reason for adopting many documents related to this area and creating all necessary conditions.

In particular, one of the important tools of the economy in the strategic plans promoted by the state and ensuring the well-being of the people in Uzbekistan is the modernization processes in agriculture.

Agriculture is being provided with modern technologies at an accelerated pace. In general, in recent years the state has been paying special attention to the radical transformation of the agricultural sector and its adaptation to market conditions.

The Strategy for the Development of Agriculture of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030 provides for the improvement of the public administration system, the development and implementation of state policy on food security, the introduction of rural development programs that provide for the promotion of balanced and stable rural development.

In addition, when growing crops, the primary attention will be paid to their yield, export orientation, the establishment of a cluster system or cooperation, including processing, storage and sale of manufactured products on domestic and foreign markets.

Of course, dehkans and farmers play a significant role in this process and make a worthy contribution to raising the country’s agriculture to a new level, so every year the second Sunday of December is widely celebrated as the Day of Agricultural Workers.

This year, as always, the selfless work of farmers and workers in the sphere has received high recognition. Of course, this gives them strength and inspires them to work even harder.

According to FAO, more than half of the world's hungry people live on the Asian continent. The paradox lies in the fact that at the same time it is the Asian countries that are the main producers of world food products.

Undoubtedly, in the growing food shortage, the intensification of the processes of desertification of territories, it is necessary to take urgent measures to reform the industry. To develop dehkan farms, 100,000 hectares of cotton and grain areas have been reduced this year, which were later distributed to the population through an open electronic auction. As a result, over 420 thousand new farms, more than 1 million 200 thousand permanent and seasonal jobs were created.

At the same time, work is underway on the development of major projects in the modernization of water infrastructure, improvement of water supply in agriculture. During international meetings and dialogues, the Head of the state promotes initiatives to create sustainable food production systems, form optimal supply chains, bring technical regulations into line for the growth of intraregional trade, and introduce a unified food security monitoring system in Asia.

In particular, at the Sixth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, held in Astana this autumn, the Head of the state proposed to discuss the issues of growing high-quality and affordable food products for residents of the region at an international conference under the auspices of FAO, which will be held next year in Uzbekistan.

In general, it is planned to implement a special state program to increase the profits of dehkans and farmers at least twice, bring the annual growth rate of agriculture to 5 percent, radically reform the water management system and save water.

Taking into account the current geopolitical processes, all this will serve to continuously provide food products to the population of the country and the full implementation of the state's strategy in agriculture.
