First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis S. Safoyev met with the Chairman of a Committee of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Shakirov.

Mr. Safoyev spoke about the historical friendship and fraternal relations between the two peoples and dwelled on issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Mr. Shakirov, as an international observer at the Presidential Elections, positively assessed the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, especially in good neighborliness and inter-parliamentary cooperation. He drew attention to the importance of the upcoming political event and praised the organization of the election preparation process.

The parties considered issues of implementation of the agreements reached during the official visit of the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva to the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition, the main directions of trade and economic cooperation, issues of solving the water problem in the Aral Sea region, rational use of water resources, proposals for implementing joint projects, and other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
