The process of introducing international quality standards for agricultural products in Uzbekistan expands

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy, Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Italy’s Global G.A.P. have held a virtual webinar on obtaining Global G.A.P. international certificate.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy Otabek Akbarov informed the Italian side about the development of agriculture in the country, the export potential of this sphere.

Technical Key Account Manager in Central Asia, Latvia and Russia of Global G.A.P, Edite Strazdina made a detailed presentation of the Global G.A.P. international certification system. She spoke about its main principles and advantages. 

It was emphasized that for further promotion of Uzbekistan agricultural products to the European market and expansion of its range, it is important to obtain internationally recognized quality certificates. The provision of such certificates is now mandatory when concluding export contracts with many network companies in Europe.

Global G.A.P. already cooperates with companies and exporting organizations of Uzbekistan on the implementation of international quality standards and issuance of certificates. A partnership has been established with Uzstandard Agency, a Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed. This Agency is already an associate member of Global G.A.P. and applied for membership in the secretariat of this organization.

According to Edite Strazdina, in 2021, the number of issued certificates in Uzbekistan may double and grow to 1000.
