On June 29, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Head of state cordially congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday, warmly wishing him good health, well-being, great success, as well as peace and prosperity to the fraternal people of Turkmenistan.

The historical role of the National Leader in the formation and dynamic development of modern Turkmenistan, increasing the country’s authority in the international arena, strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan was emphasized.

The progress in bilateral cooperation in recent years was noted with particular satisfaction. Trade turnover is growing. A border trade zone is being created, and essential joint economic and humanitarian programs are being implemented.

The leaders noted the importance of developing new cooperation projects in industry, transport, energy, agriculture, and interregional and cultural exchange during the upcoming meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission.

The current aspects of regional cooperation in Central Asia were also discussed.
