His Excellency

Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev,

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Dear Shavkat Miromonovich!

Dear brother!

First, I would like to warmly greet You and express my deep gratitude for Your outstanding personal contribution to developing and strengthening friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Your decision to widely celebrate the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi’s birth in Uzbekistan was a clear indication of this.

I fully share Your words about the outstanding role of Magtymguly Fragi in the history of world literature and culture as an enlightener and humanist, whose creativity and philosophical heritage have forever entered the spiritual treasury of humanity. And, of course, we always speak with a special sense of gratitude and pride about the enormous contribution that Magtymguly made to creating the foundation of brotherhood and friendship of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples, united by one destiny.

Uzbekistan has a special place in the biography and work of Magtymguly. Having received an education in Khiva and studied Uzbekistan’s history perfectly, he was imbued with a sincere love for this land, deep respect, and sympathy for its people and traditions.

It is natural that today, Magtymguly’s poems are heard in the Uzbek language and studied in Uzbekistan’s schools and universities. Like in Turkmenistan, the great Uzbek poets, thinkers, and scientists Alisher Navoi, Mirzo Ulugbek, and Munis Khwarizmi are known and revered.

I am convinced that the widespread celebration in Uzbekistan of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi’s birth will be another manifestation of the inviolability of fraternal ties between our peoples and states, the commonality of their historical destinies, our unity and readiness always to be together.

Once again, please accept my gratitude for the decision made.

Taking this opportunity, I convey to You wishes of good health, prosperity, and new success in Your state and political activities, as well as peace and prosperity to the people of Uzbekistan.

With deep respect,

Gurbanguly BERDIMUHAMEDOV,

National Leader of the Turkmen people,

Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan
