Today, the President of the European Council, António Costa, arrived in Samarkand to take part in the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit.

“At Samarkand International Airport, the distinguished guest was welcomed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials”, Bekzod Khidoyatov, the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, wrote on his Telegram channel.

The summit will take place on April 3-4 under the chairmanship of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Participants will include the President of the European Council, António Costa, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the leaders of the Central Asian states: the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
