At the Sherdor madrasah of the Registan complex, the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella was shown rare historical objects found during the work of the Uzbekistan-Italian expedition at the archaeological site of Kofir Qala in Samarkand region. Information was also provided about plans for a joint expedition, which has been operating for twenty years.

The archaeological site of Kofir Qala dates back to the Middle Ages. It was the country residence of the rulers of Samarkand.

The President of Italy highly appreciated the work of the expedition and wished the specialists further success.
