The Center for Public Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Uzbekistan held a Musical Evening of the SCO Peoples on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the organization, at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan.

According to the Center, the event was attended by deputies and senators of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, national coordinators of the SCO, representatives of ministries and agencies, the regional anti-terrorist structure of the SCO and the diplomatic corps in Tashkent, national cultural centers of the SCO countries and other public organizations.

Traditional and modern music, melodies and songs glorifying friendship, peace and prosperity of the peoples of the SCO member states and partners were performed by the laureate of international competitions and festivals, the Chamber Orchestra of Folk Instruments “Sogdiana” of the State Philharmonic Society of Uzbekistan under the direction of the Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor, Conductor and Artistic Director of the group Firuza Abdurakhimova.

The concert program of the evening included a medley “Pearls of India” based on music from Indian films, folk melodies and songs from China (“My Beloved China”), Kazakhstan (“Arys Zhagasynda”), Kyrgyzstan (“Mash Botoi”), Russia (“Peddlers”), Tajikistan (“Azizon”), Uzbekistan (“Dugonalar”), as well as musical works of the Belarusian, Azerbaijani and Iranian peoples.
