The need for fully using the capabilities of pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan was noted at the meeting held under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Ministry of Finance was instructed to allocate 40 billion UZS to the local budget to improve the infrastructure of pilgrimage tourism objects in Bukhara.
The Ministry of Tourism was given a task to increase flights from countries with a high potential for pilgrimage tourism – Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, and Arab countries to Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent.
Officials were instructed to use all the possibilities of more than 1,200 places of worship in the country and approve the program for the annual attraction of at least a million tourists.
It was noted that taking into account the variety of interpretations, exercises, approaches of pilgrim tourists, it is impossible without a scientific approach to solve issues such as a proposal of a certain type of nutrition to representatives of a particular interpretation or religion, equipment of hotels and places for prayer.
The lack of specialists and guides capable of providing detailed information about the places of worship and holy persons was noted. The International Islamic Academy and “Silk Road” International University of Tourism were given the task of developing scientifically sound approaches to countries with a large stream of pilgrimage tourism.
