The Cathedral Mosque “A’lokhon Makhdum” in Kasansay district of Uzbekistan’s Namangan region is the only architectural monument in Fergana Valley, built in the style of structures for prayers.
The mosque was built in the 18th century. Only the Ishan room and the entrance gate have been preserved. In 1989-1993, a summer mosque and study rooms were built. A two-storey mosque with a high dome was built in the northern part of the Ishan room, in the eastern part – a room for ablution, in the southeastern part of the courtyard – a modern gate with a dome, and opposite the mosque – a secondary school building.
The ancient mosque was built in the western part of the courtyard in the shape of a rectangle 28.6 x 10.8 meters. The four intersecting arches of the chancel serve as the base for the side wings. The arches rest on brick columns. The main interior of the mosque building is white. The architects paid attention to natural light. The inner domes of the mosque are decorated with carvings and flowers.
