15:56 / 2023-11-18

On November 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the progress of the construction of the Olympic Village.

As previously reported, in 2025, Uzbekistan will host the Asian and Asian Youth Para Games. In the Olympic Village under construction, conditions will be created for practicing all sports included in the program of these competitions. The area of the complex is 100 hectares. The main facilities are a stadium with 10 thousand seats and a velodrome with 2 thousand seats, a water sports palace, single and team sports complexes.

A four-story administrative building, 15 outdoor sports fields, jogging tracks, and parks will also be built. In total, 54 percent of the territory will be occupied by green areas. It is planned to create artificial lakes on 37 hectares.

The project is being implemented jointly with the Chinese company CAMC Engineering, which has experience in the construction of sports facilities in 70 countries.

A year ago, on November 9, the Head of state laid the first stone of this village. To date, work on the foundation of the main buildings has been completed. The structures of 5 complexes have been installed. About a thousand workers and engineers, and special equipment are involved in the construction.

The President instructed introducing foreign experience into the operation of the village, taking safety measures, and improving the territory.

“After the Asian Games, the complexes should not be empty but serve our people. Along with training, creating a base for sports education, science, and medicine is necessary. That is, this place will become a scientific, practical, educational, and training center for our country”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

In the future, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, sports federations, the State Sports Academy of Uzbekistan, and other agencies will be located here. Sports facilities will be available for citizens to practice sports.

“In the future, connecting children’s sports schools with this village is necessary. This will serve as a bridge from mass sports to professional sports”, the President said.

Since the Asian Para Games will also be held in the village, sectors adapted to the needs of people with disabilities will be organized here.

On the recommendation of the President, the complex plans to use renewable energy. Solar panels with an annual capacity of 10 megawatts will be installed on 56 thousand square meters.

Information about projects launched this year in accordance with the investment program of the city of Tashkent was also presented here. It was noted that over the past year, 360 projects were implemented in the production and services sector, with a total of 20 thousand jobs created. It is also planned to develop a new-generation industrial zone on 650 hectares in Yangikhayot district.
